The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) strongly condemns the decision to suspend a number of trade unionists in the Gaza Strip from working, where both, the Palestinian Ministries of Health and the Interior issued decisions to suspend Dr. Ehab Al-Nahhal, Mehdi Mushtaha and Nasser Al-Ketnani.
On 19 May 2019, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza Strip issued a decision to suspend Dr. Ehab Jouda Younis Al-Nahhal until the completion of investigations. On the same date, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior issued a decision to suspend Mehdi Mushtaha and Nasser Al-Ketnani from work and transfer their files to the military judiciary against a background of a peaceful and civilized protest in front of the Palestinian Ministry of Finance to demand the cessation of financial liabilities.
The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) reiterates that the right to trade union organization is truly guaranteed to all citizens in accordance with the basic law and international human rights instruments.
ICSPR expresses its solidarity with the trade unionists in Gaza Strip, and emphasizes the illegality suspending them and transferring some files to military judiciary, and calls on the official concerned authorities to immediately reverse these decisions, and to enable trade unions to work independently in accordance with the law.
