press release
The International Commission (Hashd) warns of the dangers of supporting an Israeli law to structurally divide the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (Hashd) is closely following and condemning the plan of a proposed law being developed in the “Israeli Knesset” aiming at geographically separating and controlling the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock.
According to the data, the extreme Knesset member “Amit Halevy” of the “Likud” party has recently been working on drafting an in-depth version of the aforementioned plan, which includes the removal of Hashemite guardianship and Islamic endowments in Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to the partition plan, the occupation authorities will work to allow their settlers to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque from all doors without the presence of occupation police, in yet another crime demonstrating the occupation authorities’ integrity in denial of the Palestinian people’s basic rights and sanctities.
The International Commission (Hashd) alerts against this racist action as a gross violation of international humanitarian law and its resolutions related to the city of Jerusalem, which are confirmed by the UN as Jerusalem is an occupied Palestinian city under international law, and the necessity of respecting the historical and legal status of the city and its sanctities, as well as the inadmissibility of changing the present situation. This relates to all of the occupation’s racist actions in the Holy City.
The International Commission (Hashd) believes that the previously mentioned draft law is a continuation of the set of Israeli measures and practices based on implementing the policy of blocking the occupied Jerusalem, as well as both temporal and spatial control of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in blatant disregard for the feelings of Palestinians and millions of Muslims, which would spark conflict in the region, and thus: The occupation authorities bear full responsibility for proceeding with the discussion scheme and approving the racist and illegal draft law, which constitutes an additional crime if it is put up for discussion or voting on it.
The International Commission (Hashd) points out that the increasing violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem necessitate serious Arab and international action to break the conspiracy of silence and double standards, maintaining international protection for Jerusalem and its residents.
The International Commission (Hashd) urges the international community to keep carrying out its decisions on the Palestinian cause because it is the quickest way to improve regional security and peace, including sanctioning, boycotting, and diplomatic exile of the occupation leaders.
The International Commission (Hashd) recommends the Palestinian Authority take up the issue of occupied Jerusalem, the attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque’s attempts to change the historical status through force, and violations of the right to worship and practice religious rites, by employing all legal and diplomatic mechanisms, the most important of which is the use of international jurisdiction paths, and referring Israeli occupation crimes to the International Criminal Court, and to follow up with the Office of the Public Prosecutor to expedite investigation procedures into the Palestinian situation, leading to the trial of the occupation leaders and settlers as war criminals.
