69-year of Palestinian Nakba
Israel, the occupying Power, denies the Palestinian’s rights and the principles of international law
Today Monday 15 (May) 2017, is the 69 years anniversary of Nakba (Day of Catastrophe), represented by the forced displacement of the Palestinian people since 1948, perpetrated by Israeli gangs, this occasion come along with the Israeli occupation continuing refusal to comply international legal and moral policies that protect the refugees, and act like a State above international law, especially under lack of willingness of the international community to ensure the return of refugees and compensation for their sufferings, and the accountability of the occupying power for it’s crimes against Palestinian refugees.
Israeli State denial for all legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, especially the right of return of Palestinian refugees, stipulated in the decision of the United Nations with no 194 of 11 December 1948, and the denial of the Palestinian people self-determination right.
This year’s Nakba accompanied, in light of the continuing of hunger-strike by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails for the 29th day in a row, in addition to the continuing settlement activities and judaization of Jerusalem and extrajudicial killings as well as continuing the siege of Gaza, which led to the deterioration of the living conditions of about two million Palestinians in Gaza Strip, and the continuation of the occupying power to issue military matters, including military command (1650), which permit to implement forced displacements of civilians protected under the Fourth Geneva Convention, which considered as flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) recalling the international community of the tragedy and suffering of the Palestinian people since 1984 where they have lived in asylum situation and distractions and permanent violation of human rights ,ICSPR affirms the right of the Palestinian people to return to their homes and restore original property as a historically right based on the principles of right and justice by the principles of international law, ICSPR demands the following:
ICSPR considers the right of return and compensation is not an inalienable, bargain, negotiable or referendum, and fundamentally opposed with every suspicious calls for resettlement or relocation or consolidation or melting or compensation as a substitute for the right of return.
ICSPR emphasizes the importance of providing international protection to the refugees, by working on an internationalist resolution to grant UNRWA validity to protect refugee alongside with traditional tasks, or extend protection of UNHCR to refugees, and to ensure that Palestine refugees protected under the International Convention for the protection of refugees.
ICSPR calls upon the international community for an immediate intervention, and not to sacrifice of international law principles, and to deal with the Palestinian issue as a human rights issue by international legitimacy, so the international community necessitated not to continue in the conspiracy of silence by implementing international law.
ICSPR calls upon the international to implement the United Nations resolutions of the Palestinian issue, where to reach a just, comprehensive and lasting peace requires maintaining Palestinian rights as whole, and to end Israel, the occupying Power on the occupied Palestinian territories.
ICSPR demands Palestinian factions to restore national unity and rebuilding the Palestine Liberation Organization, to ensure their ability to respond to all the challenges facing the Palestinian cause in particular Palestinian refugees.
