ICSPR AND AL-QUDS OPEN UNIVERSITY EMPHASIZED THE IMPORTANCE OF TRAINING COURSES IN HUMAN RIGHTS AND INTERNATIONAL ADVOCACY
ICSPR and Al-Quds Open University emphasized the importance of training courses in human rights and international advocacy
Al-Quds Open University students have recommended at the conclusion of the training course about “human rights and international advocacy”, which has organized by the International Commission to support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) at Al-Quds Open University headquarter at Gaza branch, on the need to repeat this kind of legal training, which has aimed primarily to strengthen more international solidarity and to support the Palestinian cause.
Al-Quds Open University President Dr. Ziad El-Jerjawy has praised the legal role of ICSPR towards supporting the Palestinian issue, stressing on the importance of joint work of “ICSPR” and “Al-Quds Open University”, in order to strengthen democracy within Palestinian society, by activating the role of the Palestinian youth, especially students and undergraduates, pushing them toward exercise their roles and responsibilities to the rehabilitation of human rights system , particularly right of peoples to independence and freedom from occupation.
The training session included targeting 27 students from media section, the lawyer and legal researcher Karem Nashwan discussed several topics about human rights and international advocacy, while Professor Salman Al-Hassanat, the protection official at International Committee of the Red Cross, has introduced International Humanitarian Law, and on the last day of the training Ali Abdel-Wahab and Dr. Ra’ed Helles have explained the skills needed to make advocacy campaign as well as social media.
Wissam Jouda, Vice Chairman of ICSPR, has confirmed the importance of partnership with the University and that the Commission has worked hard in order to raise the level of interest of students on human rights and humanitarian law, in addition to involve effectively in order to support Palestinian people rights, using all available techniques in this area, including conducting workshops and training courses that targeting students.
While, Dr Ala’a Hamouda, Director of training and awareness, has praised the role of Al-Quds Open University in developing the capacities and developing undergraduates, assuring that Commission believes that these training courses are part of social responsibility for “ICSPR” which aims to develop student’s abilities through training courses.
At the end of the graduation ceremony the trainees, university administration and staff of ICSPR stand in solidarity with hunger-striking prisoners who entered the 38th consecutive day, carrying banners and slogans of solidarity and support for the hostages even edit just demands.
