ICSPR ANNOUNCES THE DATE OF ANNOUNCING THE WINNER OF THE FIRST EDITION OF ITS ANNUAL HUMAN AND PEOPLES’ RIGHTS AWARD.

ICSPR Announces The Date of Announcing The Winner of The First Edition of Its Annual Human and Peoples’ Rights Award.

Palestine / Gaza Strip: On Sunday, 15 October 2017, the International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights finished with selecting the committee of its annual award ‘ICSPR’ Award for Human and Peoples’ Rights. ICSPR announced the date of awarding the winner with its first edition whereas it decided to announce the winner’s name by a special ceremony on the anniversary of the World Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The Committee, which was formed by the ICSPR Board of Directors and other Arabic and international figures on 07 January 2017, completed its work, based on its general assessment of the situation of human rights and the Palestinian people. Number of personalities and institutions were nominated for the Award, which the Committee believes that they have made clear contributions led to create a remarkable change in the environment of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.

The annual ICSPR Award for Human and Peoples’ Rights is the only and first of its kind in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) dedicated to honoring individuals ,Palestinian, Arab or international organizations . The award which is self-financed by ICSPR aims to provide symbolic, moral support to Palestinian, Arab and international organizations which have made concrete contributions to the realization of the human and peoples’ rights system and who have faced great difficulties in ensuring the enjoyment of the Palestinian people of their internationally recognized rights.

The Competition Committee is guided by a number of objective required from the winner such as taking political, legal, human rights, social or economic initiative in an innovative manner that contributes to ensure the enjoyment of the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights. It also sets up efforts and facilities that contribute in implementing initiatives that improves the Palestinian people’s enjoyment of their legitimate right.

Among the objective criteria, the winner’s contribution should have significantly helped to support the goals and objectives of (ICSPR) in the field of human rights.

Also the Achievements should be an example for Similar national initiatives. As well as, the contributions of the winner must be effective in ICSPR and must gathered new sources both intellectually and physically to ensure the implementation of human rights. The contributions of the candidate should contribute to the resolution and understanding of human rights problems at the national and international levels including the promotion of international solidarity with the rights of the Palestinian people.  The theme of the winner’s move should be directly relevant to the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Also the award may be awarded jointly which depends on the evaluation of the award’s committee at the time as it deems fit and in accordance with the selection criteria.

The award is granted annually by the ICSPR Board of Directors without any kind discrimination on any religious, sexual, political base, or any other form of discrimination.

Individuals, organizations and groups are awarded based on personal achievements and commitments of the individual and institutional achievements. The award is not given to the name of a deceased person also not given to a person or organization who supports the denial of the rights of the Palestinian people.
