ICSPR: Disappearances of Palestinian youths in Turkey should be put to an end.
Press release,
ICSPR: Disappearances of Palestinian youths in Turkey should be put to an end.
The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) follows up with great concern the disappearance of seven Palestinian youths residing in the Turkish Republic since the beginning of September 2021 (4 from the West Bank and 3 from the Gaza Strip).
The suffering of these youths and their families continues, especially with the continued official failure to disclose the fate of the seven whose tracks disappeared in mysterious and unclear circumstances until now.
ICSPR declares its full solidarity with the families of the missing youths, and reminds all of the unjust policies and procedures practiced by the authorities of the countries hosting Palestinian immigrants, and stresses that the continuation of the Israeli occupation and its racist policies is the main reason behind the immigration of Palestinians.
ICSPR appreciates the official Turkish and Palestinian efforts and demands the following:
• ICSPR urges the Palestinian and Turkish official bodies to strengthen and intensify their procedures in order to disclose the fate of the missing Palestinian youths in Turkish territory, and ensure their safe return to their families and loved ones.
• ICSPR calls on the Turkish government to provide real and complete protection for the Palestinians residing in Turkish territory.
• ICSPR urges the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to adopt a new approach based on a fundamental change in the contributions of Palestinian embassies, making them able to faithfully fulfill their obligations towards Palestinian citizens and their issues.
• ICSPR urges the international community, especially the organizations concerned with disappearances and enforced disappearances, to intervene effectively in order to disclose the fate of the missing Palestinian youths in Turkish territory.
