International Commission “Hashd” The Deliberate Targeting of Health Facilities and Personnel by the Occupation Constitutes Compound War Crimes
The International Commission for Supporting Palestinian People’s Rights (Hashd) strongly condemns the deliberate targeting of health facilities and personnel, the latest being the bombing of the Daraj Clinic at dawn on Monday, June 24, 2024, in Gaza City. This attack resulted in the death of Hani Al-Jafrawi, Director of Ambulance and Emergency Services, as part of the ongoing genocide since last October.
International Commission “Hashd” asserts that the deliberate targeting of hospitals, healthcare centers, and their staff by the occupation authorities, which has led to the destruction of 34 hospitals, 151 health centers, and 136 ambulances, rendering them out of service and causing the death of 500 healthcare workers to date, as well as the arrest of more than 310 others who are living in harsh and inhumane conditions, constitutes compound war crimes. This is contrary to the provisions of international humanitarian law, the Rome Statute, and the principle of immunity that they are supposed to enjoy at all times during their work.
International Commission “Hashd” calls on the international community in all its components to compel the occupation authorities to immediately comply with the measures of the International Court of Justice and the UN Security Council resolution related to stopping the genocide in the Gaza Strip and its residents immediately. This includes activating safe humanitarian and relief corridors and restoring the health facilities that have been destroyed by swiftly repairing them and providing all the necessary elements for their operation.
International Commission “Hashd” urges the judges of the International Criminal Court to quickly issue arrest warrants for the leaders of the occupation for their continuous crimes. It also calls on the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the Human Rights Council to take meaningful actions to ensure the protection of hospitals, health centers, and their staff, as it is a fundamental right guaranteed at all times and under all circumstances.
End.
