Press Release,

The International Commission (ICSPR) expresses its deep concern over the life of Suha Jabara, and holds the security services in the West Bank full responsibility for her life, and calls on the Palestinian government to release her immediately.

Suha Jabara, 29 yr, entered her 15th consecutive day of open hunger strike during her detention in Jericho prison to protest against her torture and ill-treatment by the Palestinian security services in Jericho prison. According to information published by the detainee’s lawyer, Suha’s health situation is at risk and her struggle with death is continuing with her hunger strike.

According to her family, the security services charged the political detainee Suha Jabara with helping the families of martyrs and prisoners, pointing out that the charge is a departure from the system of values and ethics recognized by the Palestinians since ancient times, urging the human rights organizations to intervene to release her to return to her three children.

Amnesty International has called for an independent and impartial investigation into Suha Jabara’s statements about torture at an interrogation center in Jericho. The organization also called for accountability of all members of the security services for torture and ill-treatment, including punitive and disciplinary measures, and demanded a strong right to access her lawyer and to meet with them individually to preserve the privacy of the defense, and to have the necessary medical care and protection against torture and ill-treatment.

ICSPR expresses its deep concern and considers the Palestinian Authority is fully responsible for Suha’s life and demands the Palestinian government to strive to ensure her immediate release and to ensure the compliance by the Palestinian security services with national and international standards.
