Press Release

ICSPR: The Israeli occupation’s announcement of constructing a new settlement in Qalandiya constitutes a serious violation of the principles of international law and resolutions of legitimacy

The International Commission to Support the of the Palestinian’s Rights People follows up and condemns the Israeli occupation’s announcement of constructing a new settlement that includes 10,000 residential and commercial units in Qalandia.

According to data, what’s referred to as (Jerusalem Municipality) has begun to promote the launching of the settlement project, which will be built on 900 dunums out of the seized 1,200 dunums in December 2021.

ICSPR believes that the occupation authorities are seeking to impose a fait accompli “De Facto” by force, which clearly reflects the state of Israel’s disregard for international law and the resolutions of the United Nations and the Security Council. It also constitutes a flagrant violation of the Rome Statute establishing the International Criminal Court. ICSPR stresses that the silence of the international community and its institutions on the crimes of the occupation can only be understood as a green light to commit more crimes against the Palestinians. Therefore:
1-ICSPR confirms that all settlement, annexation and robbery of lands activities are considered a full-fledged war crime in accordance with the rules of international humanitarian law and the Rome Statute.
2-ICSPR calls on international organizations, especially the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and regional organizations, especially the League of Arab States and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, to exert serious and effective pressure on the occupation authorities, in order to ensure their retraction from their illegal settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
3-ICSPR calls on the Palestinian leadership to take serious action at the national and international levels, including activating diplomacy to confront settlement crimes.
4-ICSPR calls on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to expedite efforts to complete the opening of an independent, impartial and objective investigation into the Israeli occupation crimes, foremost of which is the crime of settlement, confiscation and Judaization, as the most effective way towards activating accountability and international justice, and reducing the scope of impunity.
