Press release

The International Commission “Hashd” requests that the UNRWA administration apologize publicly and drop the infamous code of behavior.

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (Hashd) strongly condemned the Ethics Office of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) for publishing and disseminating a document known as the (Code of Conduct), which contained suspicious and religiously and morally unacceptable provisions. It defies the most fundamental norms of normal human thinking.

Agreed upon and settled at the heart of international law principles, which emphasize that preserving the principle of universality of human rights necessitates respect for the cultural and religious particularities of societies and does not attempt to replace standards and values that are opposed to people.

This proposal, according to Hashd, is a harmful attempt to immerse Palestinian society in an issue that contradicts its established principles and standards. Reaffirming that UNRWA’s mandate, as established by its founding decision, emphasizes the importance of the organization’s and the law’s respect for religious and social values; Emphasizing the need to provide the agency with a set budget to ensure its loyal compliance with the decision to establish it; Emphasizing that the global human rights system incorporates transcendent, universally agreed-upon principles that exclude what is seen to be incompatible with peoples’ cultural differences; It is not a topic of international agreement; it registers and requires the following:

  • The International Commission (Hashd): Joins in condemning and condemning the UNRWA’s decision to publish and disseminate a code of conduct that includes concerns that are repugnant and inconsistent with religious, moral, and social norms, as well as Palestinian legislation.
  • The International Commission (Hashd): urges the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to publicly apologize and take clear and public steps to withdraw this code; it also urges them not to submit to financial bargaining attempts by some donor countries.

Finished.
