ICSPR THE ATTACK OF THE INTELLIGENCE SERVICE IN THE WEST BANK AGAINST MOUSSA DWEIKAT HOUSE CONSIDERED AN EVIDENCE OF THE CONTINUING DISREGARD FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

ICSPR the attack of the intelligence service in the West Bank against Moussa Dweikat house considered an evidence of the continuing disregard for human rights
International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights ICSPR followed with deep concern what number of websites and social platforms shared the videos and pictures showing that the Palestinian intelligence service and police with batons and they beat women in the house of the student’s Mousa Dweikat, on Friday, September 22, 2017 in Nablus.
It’s worth to mention that the family of Mousa Dweikat have stated in a press statement published following the incident, that the intelligence service raided the family house in Nablus, in order to arrest the student: Mousa Dweikat, a member of the Student Council of Islamic bloc, at An-Najah National University in Nablus, and this was accompanied with break into – not the first of its kind – and fired power and threatened to arrest the father and brothers of Mousa unless he turns himself in immediately.
International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights ICSPR reaffirms its condemnation of the illegal acts that accompanied breaking Dweikat’s house by the intelligence services, especially since it marked with repression and lawlessness, and assaulting citizens, especially women, considering that the timing of the raid comes when everyone’s need to consolidate an environment suitable to complete Palestinian reconciliation, therefore; ICSPR calls for:
ICSPR demands the Palestinian authorities and particularly the Attorney General to open a serious investigation focused on accounting and accountability of all those involved in the assault on the Dwaikat house, as well as guaranteeing the right to personal security.
ICSPR demands the Government of National Consensus to make more efforts in order to ensure sufficient freedom for student and academic frameworks to enable them of functioning their union work freely and without any limit that would hinder these freedoms, in addition to enhance its role within the framework of respecting the rule of law.
