ICSPR CONDEMNS FIFA DECISION TO STAND NEUTRAL TOWARDS ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS IN THE OCCUPIED PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES
ICSPR Condemns FIFA decision to stand neutral towards Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) continued to condemn the decision of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) to stand neutral towards the Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and to refuse to consider these settlements as violations of international law.
The decision of the recent FIFA board “not to take actions” is a clear indication that the international sports institution is under pressure from Israel, and gives the occupying power the green light to continue the crime of settlement as it involves violations against the land and the Palestinian population.
ICSPR calls upon FIFA to reverse its decision and took its responsibility to protect human rights and take a position against settlements as it violated people rights in Palestine. It is also necessary on FIFA to take procedures against Israeli sport teams to put pressure on the occupation to stop its policies against the Palestinian.
