The International Commission (ICSPR) and the University of Palestine are organizing a workshop entitled Poverty and Human Rights in Palestine

Occupied Palestine / Gaza: The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR), in partnership with the University of Palestine, organized today, Monday, October 28, 2019 a workshop entitled “Poverty and the Status of Human Rights in Palestine”, with the participation of 45 students from Palestine University.

Ibrahim Al-Ghandour, Coordinator of Youth Activities Department at the Commission, welcomed the attendees, stressing that the state of poverty in the Palestinian territories is a result of the practices of the Israeli occupation and the absence of a national strategy to combat poverty and the continuing state of Palestinian division.

For his part, Ammar Rayhan, Director of the Public Relations Department at the University, stressed the importance of organizing this meeting, explaining the role of the University of Palestine in supporting human rights in the Palestinian society.

Dr. Salman al-Hasanat, a legal expert, talked about the implications of poverty in the past and present, as he touched upon the definition of poverty, its internal and external causes, and the role of impoverishment policies practiced by some rich countries and transcontinental companies.
