Amid the escalation of the Israeli occupation
The International Commission (ICSPR) deplores the inability of the international community to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip
The Israeli Occupation Forces have continued to perpetrate their crimes against civilians, civilian facilities and cultural properties in the Gaza Strip since the dawn of Tuesday, 12 November 2019, up to this very moment, where according to statistics of the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the escalation resulted in the martyrdom of 5 citizens, including a woman, and the injury of 30 others, including at least 07 children, in addition to the destruction of many facilities and agricultural lands.
In the course of the day, the Israeli occupation forces escalated their direct and deliberate attacks on civilians and their properties by committing more than one crime throughout the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of Baha Saleem Hassan Abu Al-Atta (42 years), his wife Asma Mohammed Hassan Abu al-Atta (39 years), Mohammed Attia Musleh Hamouda (20 years), Zaki Mohammed Adnan Ghanama (25 years) and Ibrahim Ahmed Abdul Latif al-Dabous (23 years).
Moreover, the Israeli occupation forces have closed the Kerem Shalom and Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossings and imposed restrictions on the work of fishermen in the Gaza Strip in order to tighten the unjust Israeli siege.
The Israeli military escalation against the Gaza Strip is accompanied by an escalation of threats made by Israeli officials on the call for a large-scale aggression on the Gaza Strip, which raises concern that the current escalation is a prelude to wider aggression in light of the silence of the international community.
The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) considers this escalation a violation of international law and holds the Israeli occupation authorities the responsibilities of its consequences, and fears that these current military attacks are a prelude to a wider aggression that only the Palestinian citizen will pay dearly for. Therefore, ICSPR demands the following:
- ICSPR calls on the international community to immediately intervene to force the Israeli occupation to halt its ongoing hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
- ICSPR confirms that the continued targeting of Palestinian civilians in general, and the residents of the Gaza Strip in particular, is a war crime described and defined in accordance with the requirements of the Rome Statute of the Permanent International Criminal Court in The Hague.
- ICSPR confirms that the continuation of the Israeli occupation crimes against the citizens of the Gaza Strip and their civilian properties would not have been possible without the continuation of the policy of international silence, and the continued enjoyment of immunity by the leaders of the occupation state in the face of accountability and international justice.
- ICSPR calls on the Palestinian leadership and diplomacy to exert more efforts with the International Criminal Court to urge it to move a step forward towards an international investigation into the international crimes committed by the occupation forces to ensure that Israeli criminals do not go unpunished.
