The International Commission “ICSPR” and the police in Gaza agree to hold a series of joint training and awareness activities.
Occupied Palestine / Gaza: A delegation from the International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights “ICSPR”, headed by its chairman “lawyer Salah Abd Al-Atti”, visited today 3/9/2021 the Director-General of the Palestinian Police in Gaza, Major General Mahmoud Salah, who emphasized the police professional role and its preparations to protect the security of the electoral process, and its willingness to cooperate with the Central Elections Commission and civil society to ensure this.
During the meeting, ways of joint cooperation between ICSPR and the Police Authority were discussed, to enhance the process of conducting the elections and reinforce the rule of law.
Both parties agreed to implement five train-the-trainers courses in the field of protecting the security of the electoral process, provided that the training targets Palestinian police officers, in addition to implementing educational activities and dialogue meetings with the concerned sectors, aimed at clarifying the role of the police in securing the electoral process.
The meeting also included an agreement to conduct a series of cooperative activities to strengthen security and police policies in the field of rule of law, democracy and protection of human rights.
