ICSPR briefs international bodies and UN special rapporteurs on the demolition and confiscation of civilian properties in the occupied West Bank

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) addressed all concerned  international bodies and UN special rapporteurs regarding  the crimes of demolition and confiscation by the Israeli occupation authorities of more than (178) homes and properties of civilians in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of the current year, to urge them make serious, practical and urgent intervention to put pressure on the occupation authorities to stop these practices that involve Judaization and racial segregation, in violation of the minimum relevant international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among which are United Nations and UN Security Council resolutions.

According to data released by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Palestinian territories, the occupation authorities have demolished and confiscated at least 178 Palestinian buildings in the West Bank since the beginning of this year, and that the aforementioned demolitions and confiscations have led to the displacement of about (259) Palestinian civilians, including about (140) children under 18, at a time when the vulnerability of these families is exacerbated due to the cold winter and the continuing crisis of the “Coronavirus”.

This means that the occupation authorities have escalated the rate of demolition and confiscation of civilian homes in West Bank cities and villages, in a scene that amounts to international crime for violating all the established provisions of the international human rights and international humanitarian laws, which emphasized the impermissibility of targeting civilian property and the impermissibility of forced displacement, and these practices also violate the essence of the 1993 Oslo Accords signed between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, which stipulated the necessity of the occupation authorities’ commitment to the impermissibility of imposing new facts, in addition to their violation of the relevant international legitimacy decisions, especially those that confirmed the illegality of confiscation and settlements.

ICSPR urged them to seriously and urgently intervene to restore respect to the system of international law and human rights law in the hearts of victims.
