Press release

ICSPR condemns murdering the journalist Ghufran Warasnah by the Israeli occupation authorities in Hebron, and demands protection for Palestinian journalists.

In the strongest possible terms, the International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) condemns murdering the journalist and the liberated detainee Ghufran Warasnah this morning, Wednesday, June 1, with a bullet by the occupation soldiers near Al-Arroub, north of Hebron. The bullet penetrated her chest from the left side (under the armpit), and exited from the right side.

ICSPR confirms that the series of killing and abuse practiced by the occupation army against our people is still ongoing, and that the continued impunity of the occupation increases its appetite for murder and terrorism. To date, the occupation has executed more than (200) journalists, accordingly, ICSPR demands the following:

  1. ICSPR calls on Human rights organizations around the world, Reporters Without Borders and all human rights and press organizations to take a firm stand against the crimes of the occupation and holding the perpetrators accountable.
  2. ICSPR calls on the Palestinian diplomacy to refer these cases to the International Criminal Court in order to move a step forward towards opening an international investigation into the crimes committed by the occupation forces, which would hold the occupation leaders accountable.
  3. ICSPR calls on the international community to declare a clear position on the systematic Israeli policies and crimes, including supporting accountability procedures and prosecuting the perpetrators of these crimes using the principle of international jurisdiction before the International Criminal Court.
