ICSPR WELCOMES THE DECISION OF UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE COMMITTEE ABOUT THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM.

ICSPR welcomes the decision of UNESCO World Heritage Committee about the Old City of Jerusalem.
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Right I.C.S.P.R welcomed the resolution of UNESCO World Heritage Committee of the illegality of any change done by the Israeli occupation in East Jerusalem and around the Old City, based on international conventions, such as Geneva and Hague Conventions, UNESCO and the United Nations resolutions, as well as this resolution comes after a similar resolution issued by the executive council of UONECO on 13 and 18 Oct 2016, as it denied any relation between Judaism and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
UNESCO World Heritage Committee adopted on Tuesday 4th July 2017 during its forty-first session held at Kraków in Poland, the resolution of “old city of Jerusalem and its walls”, which prepared by Jordan an and Palestine presented by Arab group, ten states had supported the resolution, where three states opposed it, the new resolution confirmed 12 previous resolution to UNESCO’s Executive Board and seven earlier decisions of the World Heritage Committee, all States define the historical status quo in Jerusalem as the heritage of the Holy City before 1967.
The new resolution confirms the illegality of any change implemented by the Israeli military occupation in East Jerusalem and around the old city after the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967, especially illegality of the violations and the legal provisions which based on the so-called the basic law that approved by Israeli Knesset to join Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Israel In 1980, considering that all of these actions null and void, and Israel have to cancel and retreat these resolutions, according the Security Council and the United Nation especially the latest resolution 2334 in 2016.
It is important to mention that the general conference of UNESCO has voted with great majority on Monday 31Oct2011,regarded that State of Palestine is a member at the International Organization, where the resolution adopted by 107 votes in favor ,14 against and 52 abstentions.
The International Commission to Support Palestinian Right I.C.S.P.R welcomed the resolution, considering that the international organizations when it will get rid of the American and Israeli restrictions it can respond to the rules of justice, right and law that guarantee the right of the Palestinians, therefore; ICSPR calls upon:
ICSPR consider the UNESCO’s decision as a positive step to respect the international law and to stop politicize it, against the Israeli State and the biased American policy at the expense of agreed international community of international principles and norms.
ICSPR demand UNESCO to make more efforts in order to put this decision into actual implementation and override negative observations on drafting the resolution.
ICSPR demanding the Palestinian diplomacy and the Palestinian communities abroad to promote actions to expose Israeli violations and ensure accountability on continuing its disdain for the law, justice, and international action.
