On the occasion of the Palestinian Wounded Day
ICSPR calls to internationalize the issue of the Palestinian wounded and adopt an integrated national strategy to address the rights of this segment
Today, the 13th of March is a distinct national day as it matches the “Palestinian Wounded Day”, which the Palestinians revive through organizing many activities to express their loyalty to the wounded and appreciate their sacrifices and continuous suffering, and a reminder to the world of the Israeli occupation’s crimes, ugliness and violations of all international laws through the insistence on using excessive force and forbidden weapons against Palestinian civilians inside the occupied territories.
According to the available data, the Israeli occupation’s violations against Palestinian civilians since 1948, have left hundreds of thousands of injuries, some of whom were injured more than once, others have died due to their injuries and others have been arrested, where according to the data, hundreds of wounded are languishing in Israeli prisons and detention centers, suffering from the un-extracted bullets in their bodies, in light of the policy of systematic torture and deliberate medical neglect against prisoners pursued by the Israeli prison administrations. The wounded are still paying heavily as a result of the brutal attacks of the occupation, in violation of the minimum human rights in accordance with international conventions and norms.
At the national level, the wounded continue to suffer from the lack of adequate and appropriate access to their social, health, educational, and developmental rehabilitation rights, due to many reasons, foremost among which is the division, knowing that the suffering of wounded women is increasing psychologically, economically and socially, which requires the addition of their rights and problems in the government policies and agenda, in order to achieve inherent dignity without any discrimination.
The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR), as it salutes the wounded on their glorious day, and renews its support for them and their legitimate demands, and considering with high respect their role in the national struggle, it demands the following:
1.ICSPR calls on the international community to stand seriously in front of the crimes of the Israeli military occupation state, which affect everything that is Palestinian in an arbitrary and racist manner, leaving large numbers of injuries and people with disabilities, contrary to the minimum human rights charters.
2.ICSPR calls for the adoption of an integrated national strategy to deal with the wounded, to ensure that they enjoy their guaranteed rights and the highest level of national dignity, including dealing with the issues of the wounded in terms of societal development and equality.
3.ICSPR calls for the development of the system of legislation governing the rights of the wounded, taking into account the international standards. In addition to adopting the wounded of the repeated Israeli aggressions on the Gaza Strip, and those of the great return marches in the authority’s payroll, in accordance with the principles and standards of equality and non-discrimination.
4.ICSPR calls on the Palestinian leadership to internationalize the issue of the Palestinian wounded, including working with and next to the International Criminal Court in order to prosecute the occupation state for its crimes against the wounded.
