An urgent communication to compel the occupation authorities to allow the Palestinian prisoner “Anhar Al-Deek” to give birth among her family.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) highly appreciates your positive role in order to put an end to human suffering.

With reference to the above subject, allow us to address you again, to inform you of the grave violations that the female prisoner is subjected to, who is pregnant in her ninth month and is expected to give birth any minute, and who was arrested by the occupation authorities in March 2021when she was pregnant in the fourth month, bearing in mind that the aforementioned pregnant prisoner is one of (11) mother that the occupation authorities detain in Damoun Prison, and prevented them from meeting and embracing their children.

the International Commission for Supporting Palestinian Rights (ICSPR) sent all the institutions of the international community Among them: UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences , UN Special Rapporteur on arbitrary detention , UN Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment , Secretary-General of the United Nations ,Secretary-General of the Organization of the League of Arab States , Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation , High Commissioner for Human Rights ,UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory , Director of the Red Cross Mission in the Palestinian Territories.

According to the data, the aforementioned Palestinian detainee is close to giving birth in the occupation prisons, and that she has recently been complaining of various pains, and her fears of caesarean section in absolutely unnatural and inhuman conditions, especially since the prison administration pursues a policy of medical negligence, and that prisons are not prepared for childbirth and child rearing, and the child will develop epilepsy, as a result of counting, arbitrary searches, and knocking on windows at night, in addition to emergencies, breaking into cells and other illegal practices.

Anhar, the mother of a baby girl named “Julia”, entered her ninth month of pregnancy, and she might be in labor at any moment. Today, she suffers from (bipolar) pregnancy depression, and she needs special medical attention and care, which is not available in the occupation prisons.

She sent a painful message from Damon Prison through her lawyer recently, in which she said: “I miss Julia so bad, my heart hurts, i wish I can hug her, the pain in my heart can’t be written in lines. What should I do if I was born far from you, and the jailer tied my hands and feet while I was on the birth bed, you know what a caesarean delivery is? Oh god I am so tired. I ask every free person to move and help me give birth among my family.

ICSPR follow with great concern the continuation of the policy of arbitrary detention, torture, cruel treatment and medical negligence carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinian prisoners in general, and Palestinian female prisoners in particular.

Accordingly, we stress that the occupation authorities deny their right to freedom, motherhood, health and family life, the inadmissibility of subjecting them to torture or cruel or degrading treatment, in addition to their right to a fair trial…etc. We look forward to your positive and effective role in putting pressure on the occupation to allow the Palestinian detainee, Anhar Al-Deek, to have a safe birth between her family, as a human, moral and legal right in accordance with human rights charters and international humanitarian law.
