ICSPR organizes a youth meeting to discuss a policy paper entitled: “The Development Policies of the Palestinian Authority”
Occupied Palestine/Gaza: The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights “ICSPR” organized a youth meeting to discuss a policy paper entitled: “The development policies of the Palestinian Authority that kept us left behind,” which was presented by researcher Maitha Ahmed.
A number of interested researchers in the Human Rights Researcher program participated in the virtual meeting via Zoom. The meeting discussed and analyzed the policy paper.
In turn, researcher Maitha Ahmed described the reality of sustainable development in Palestine as “catastrophic”, which needs to put in place serious development policies that enable the Palestinian citizen to achieve growth in proportion to his sacrifices and humanity, especially since President Mahmoud Abbas decided to commit the State of Palestine to achieving the goals of the 2030 development plan.
The researcher Maitha Ahmed called on the Palestinian Authority to achieve the goals of the sustainable development plan in Palestine by starting to build the political system of the state by ending the division, reforming the institutions of the authority and activating the role of the Legislative Council in achieving the goals of the sustainable development plan, with the importance of giving priority to the public interest over personal interests.
She believed that there are alternative solutions that the Palestinian Authority can adopt to effectively achieve the sustainable development goals, which are political, economic, cultural and developmental alternatives.
The researcher emphasized that young people are the pillar of society and the group most affected by the achievement of development goals, as they have the energy and the greatest passion to help the Authority achieve them, which requires the Palestinian Authority to provide the greatest support for them and their future ambitions. And stressed the need to overcome crises in the way of achieving our goals.
The participants showed great interaction with researcher Maitha Ahmed, who spoke extensively about the Palestinian reality under the occupation, praising the efforts of ICSPR represented by Dr. Salah Abdel-Atty, the supervisor of the human rights researcher program.
