Press release

On the 41st anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, the International Commission (Hashd) released a statement in response. The massacres committed by the Israeli occupation will be exempt from the statute of limitations.

Today, September 16, 2023, commemorates the 41st anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila massacre, which was carried out by the Israeli force and its allies on Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, killing and injuring hundreds.

The number of martyrs is believed to be around 3,500 men, women, and children who perished in less than 48 hours on September 16 and 17, out of a total population of 20,000 persons in the camp at the time of the massacre.

The International Commission (Hashd) confirms that there is no statute of limitations on criminal and civil lawsuits resulting from war crimes, and emphasizes that all efforts to liquidate the Palestinian cause, by destabilizing the situation of Palestinian refugees and abolishing their right to return to their homes, are pitiful attempts that will fail to achieve their goals, and that the Palestinian people will remain committed to the right of return.

The International Commission (Hashd) urges the Palestinian Authority to internationalize the conflict and work to activate the principle of international jurisdiction through the Palestinian judiciary, as well as to demand that the General Assembly, in the form of United for Peace, establish a special court to ensure the prosecution of the perpetrators of the massacre, as well as the rest of the international crimes against Palestinians, before the jurisdiction of the Criminal Court.

Finished.
