The international community has dedicated this day to commemorate the International Human Rights Day since the issuance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, in order to highlight the progress it has made in terms of implementing and strengthening respect for human rights, as well as the solidarity of peoples with the victims of violations, through Constant reminder of the moral and legal obligations of the international community towards the rights guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which contributes to preventing human exposure to further violations.
The Palestinian people commemorate the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights this year with an unprecedented escalation of the pace of Israeli violations practiced by the Israeli military occupation, visible and heard by all countries of the world, as Palestinians face various forms of violations that contradict and violate the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This occasion comes at a time when the frenzied attacks of the occupation government and settlers against the Palestinian people are escalating, whether the continuation of construction and settlement expansion, or the political practice of Judaizing Jerusalem and controlling Palestinian natural resources. And this is in light of the continued systematic and organized Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine, the abuse of secrecy and detainees in the occupation prisons, the persistence in violating the civil, political, economic and social rights of the Palestinian people around the clock, and the practice of an unprecedented escalation in its crimes against Palestinian civilians that have claimed since the beginning of this year the lives of 212 Palestinian, in addition to the continued imposition of the blockade and closure policy on the Gaza Strip, leading to the construction of a 60-kilometer concrete wall along the fence around the Gaza Strip to ensure the suffocation and besieging of the Palestinians.
The Israeli violations were accompanied by internal violations, the most serious of which was the Palestinian leadership’s insistence on depriving the Palestinian people of exercising their right to choose their representatives through holding general elections. Which coincides with the insistence of the successive Palestinian governments to impose collective punishments against the residents of the Gaza Strip, which began about five years ago by deducting more than 60% of the employees’ salaries, and in some cases cutting the salaries completely for the salaries of thousands of employees, and forcibly referring hundreds of employees For early retirement or financial retirement, and through decisions by law that affected the rights of citizens and public employees, in addition to the violation of the Basic Law and the set of international human rights standards to which the State of Palestine has acceded, in addition to the violation of the independence of the judiciary and the work of civil associations and the continued denial of justice and refraining from implementing judicial rulings and practicing Arbitrary arrest and political backgrounds, prevention of peaceful gatherings, violation of freedom of opinion and expression, prevention of issuance of passports to some citizens, deterioration of economic and humanitarian conditions, high rates of poverty and unemployment in the absence of serious national policies to address all national and humanitarian challenges.
