Press Release

The International Commission (Hashd): The international community and the free world owe it to the Israeli occupation and its leaders to prosecute and make them accountable for war crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Israeli occupying forces continue to carry out a large-scale military operation in the Gaza Strip for the second consecutive day; this increase in violence began in the early hours of yesterday. As a consequence, 23 Palestinians were murdered, including 7 children, 4 women, and a doctor, while more than 64 others were injured.

The International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (Hashd) warns of worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip as Israeli occupation forces advance and crossings close, perpetuating the suffocating illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip and its consequences for all aspects of life for Palestinian civilians, and deploring the continued international and regional silence on the heinous crimes committed by the occupation dictatorial system.

Stressing the need for the occupying power to comply with all of the legal and moral standards required by the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, it records and demands the following, in line with the necessities of the existing and expanding humanitarian crisis:

  1. The International Commission (Hashd): The Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention demand serious action to protect civilians as well as a clear and unequivocal response to Israel’s refusal to abide by and apply the Convention in Palestinian territories, despite the fact that Israel is a signatory to the Convention.
  2. The International Commission (Hashd): The International Criminal Court’s Registry calls for serious action to ensure the prompt implementation of the Pre-Trial Chamber’s decision of Friday, July 13, 2017, by which the Registry ordered the establishment of a system of information and education programs for victims and affected individuals in the context of the situation in Palestine, as well as the establishment of an information page on the Court’s website.
  3. The International Commission (Hashd): calls on the Palestinian leadership to follow national consensus resolutions to end security relations with the occupying power, internationalize conflict with the occupying power, accelerate the rebuilding of the political system’s institutions on the basis of unity, partnership, and democracy, and requests Palestinian diplomacy to make additional efforts with the International Criminal Court to prosecute international crimes committed by the occupying power.
  4. The International Commission (Hashd): Urges the International Solidarity Movement with the Palestinian People, as well as all Arab, regional, and international organizations, to take action at all legal, political, diplomatic, human rights, and popular levels to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians and the imposition of sanctions against the Israeli occupying power.
