ICSPR CALL THE PALESTINIAN SOCIETY TO SUPPORT ‘FREEDOM AND DIGNITY’ PRISONER HUNGER STRIKE.

On the occasion of Palestinian Prisoners’ Day

ICSPR call the Palestinian society to support ‘Freedom and Dignity’ prisoner hunger strike

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights express its solidarity with Palestinian and Arab prisoners and detainees, on the occasion of Palestinian Prisoners’ Day (17 April) to highlight the suffering of detainees resulting from the occupying forces policies, which considered a serious and systematic violations of International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law rules.

Prisoners’ Day coincides this year with the announcement of most of the Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons intention to participate in a hunger strike called “freedom and dignity”, as a legal way to force Israeli military and civilian agents at Israel Prisons Service to meet their legitimate demands particularly to end administrative detention and solitary confinement policies, improving health and medical services, facilitating educations for detainees, cease all of its inhuman practices, as well as abolish Israeli racist laws, emphasizing the importance to put female prisoners in specialized sections and not mixing detained children with Israeli criminal prisoners and put them in specialized sections.

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) support the Palestinian detainees struggle and declare its solidarity with prisoner hunger strike, therefore ICSPR implemented serious of activities at local and international levels to support prisoners and detainees, most important  ICSPR launching and adopting national strategic to protect prisoners at Israeli prisons and support their struggle , with emphasizing to hold Dialogue Session with all Palestinian to discuss it, in order to start practical steps to implement it, especially at current circumstances.

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) emphasized that occupying Power, Israel, represented by Israel Prisons Service was deliberately pursuing oppressive policies against Palestinian detainees, through subjecting prisoners and detainees to inhumane conditions, and denial of family visits, the denial of adequate medical care, unjust imprisonment and brutal treatment , administrative detention, torture during the investigations, assault by excessive use of force, these policies considered as serious violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, emphasizing that occupying Power, Israel, treat detainees  in racist, immoral and illegal way, which is incompatible with international legal norms that protect detainees in the Fourth Geneva Convention  of 1949, Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and international charters and conventions.

International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) condemns the Israeli policies against Palestinian prisoners and detainees, therefore it demand the following :

ICSPR Calls upon International Community to take serious action in order to release all Palestinian prisoners, and end their suffering.
ICSPR Calls the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention to do its legal obligations in putting pressure on the occupying power, Israel, to respect its legal obligations under International Law and International Humanitarian Law, in order to stop the violations against prisoners and detainees, and to comply with all international standards governing the status,  place and conditions of detention.
ICSPR demand the Palestinian society to support the legitimate demands of the detainees, to ensure that all official and popular efforts participate in the national Palestinian strategy to internationalize the prisoners issue and isolating and boycotting and accounting by using the principle of international jurisdiction and refer the prisoners file to the Criminal Court, as well as applying Protecting Power to take the necessary legal actions to represent the prisoners file on all international bodies and strengthening the role of embassies and the Palestinian community in solidarity with the prisoners and demand to release them.
ICSPR Calls upon the Palestinian leadership and Palestinian factions’ leaders, to invest that Palestinian people support prisoners on their hunger strike, and to start immediately to ensure realistic procedures for Palestinian reconciliation, based on the importance of building a new political and constitutional system that responds to the aspirations of our people unity and freedom, based on the principles of Justice and on top of that our legitimate, non-negotiable rights.
