I.C.S.P.R: Organize specialized workshop titled:  the crime of siege on Gaza Strip

Gaza Strip/International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights (I.C.S.P.R) in cooperation with Al-Quds Open University organized workshop titled “the crime of siege on Gaza Strip, on Saturday morning 15 March 2017, at Al-Quds Open University headquarter in Gaza City.

The workshop opened with a ceremonial, the activities coordinator, Manar Al Ghussein, introduced the Commission  and its objectives, programs and different activities, especially the activities of Israeli siege campaign in Gaza Strip, which falls within this activity, Dr. Ziad Eljerjawy praised the role of the Commission and commended the cooperation, stressing the importance of the workshop in the Palestinian case, because continuing siege of Gaza crime has made the situation in Gaza Strip inhumane.

Lawyer Karem Nashwan, Director of Legal Department, has reviewed in the workshop the Legal briefing memorandum sent International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights to the UN Security Council, about a month ago, asserting that Gaza in hard situation like a bird inside the cage cannot move freely, given examples of the repercussions of the siege, especially in cases of high poverty and unemployment.

Nashwan, explained that the Israeli siege on Gaza Strip, contrary to all international laws, constitutes an offence described under Rome establishing the Permanent International Criminal Court, asserting the danger of continuing of the crime of siege on Gaza Strip, calling for hard work of actors at local, regional and international levels to make further efforts to pressure at Israeli State to an immediate action to lift the siege on Gaza.

After Nashwan presented the legal briefing memorandum, discussion opened as many participants in the workshop provided a set of recommendations on the issue of the siege, expressing different interventions to force occupying State to end the siege of Gaza, including the importance of engaging universities students to use the social media to expose the crime of siege on Gaza.
