PRESS RELEASE

On the occasion of World Children’s Day, Abdul-Atti to Islam Times:140 Palestinian children in Israeli prisons.

Occupied Palestine / Gaza: The chairman of ICSPR “Salah Abdul-Atti” stated to Islam Times during his interview that the number of Palestinian children in the occupation prisons reached 140.

He added: The suffering of Palestinian children extended over the years of the Israeli occupation to this very day, where the Israeli occupation forces continue to commit the most horrific crimes against Palestinian children everywhere, and impose more sanctions on civilians, including children, where he “Abdul-Atti” confirmed that the number of Palestinian children in Israeli prisons has reached 140 children”.

It is worth mentioning that, on the 5th of April 1995, at the first Palestinian Child Conference, the late President Yasser Arafat declared his commitment to the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, and declared April the 5th as the Palestinian Child Day, knowing that the official ratification of the State of Palestine on the Convention on the Rights of the Child was on the second of April 2014.

The purpose of declaring April the 5th as the Palestinian Child Day, is to support Palestinian children, who are still suffering from denying their most basic rights, due to the continuous Israeli violations of their rights, as it violates all international conventions and norms, which is proven through the arrest and killing of Palestinian children, depriving them of their most basic rights, exterminate them before their families and on their lap as happened with the martyr “Muhammad al-Dura”. Moreover, the Israeli settlers kidnap children and burn them alive, as happened with the Jerusalemite child “Muhammad Abu Khdeir”, burning infants alive, as happened with Saad Dawabsha and his family in Douma village.
