The International commission (ICSPR): condemns the attack of unknown individuals on the Palestine Television headquarters in Gaza Strip.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) followed up with deep concern and indignation the storming and destroying the headquarters of the General Authority for Radio and Television by unknown individuals, in the Abu al-Aouf building in Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, western Gaza City on Friday morning, 04 January 2019.

According to the information available, five men armed with bladed weapons and batons stormed the headquarters of Palestine Television, and began destroying and breaking equipment, cameras, monitors and computers, internal doors and furniture, and glass.

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) expresses its solidarity with the management of the Public Authority for Radio and Television, and stresses that an attack on a national facility can not be justified whatever the reasons are. ICSPR warns of not revealing the incident circumstances and hold the perpetrators responsible, and the incident impact on the return of Gaza Strip to the square of chaos. Therefore:

ICSPR condemns in the strongest possible terms, the attack on the headquarters of Palestine Television in Gaza Strip and considers it a clear attack on the freedom of opinion, expression and press freedoms recognized in international conventions.
ICSPR calls on the competent authorities in Gaza to open a serious investigation on the incident, to expose the perpetrators and bring them to justice according to the law.
