ICSPR condemns the actions taken by the Palestinian Preventive Security Service (PSS) to call a number of citizens, including journalists, on the background of their publications on social media networks.

The International Commission o Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) followed with concern the Palestinian Preventive Security Service’s call for a number of citizens, including at least three journalists;which they Ihab al-Jariri, Fadi al-‘Arori, Jihan Hassan Awad, Because of their publications on social media networks, related to the peaceful movement to be organized next week against the Social Security Law.

ICSPR considers that the call of citizens, especially journalists, reflects the extent of the Palestinian Preventive Security Service’s negligence in implementing the principle of the rule of law, Emphasizing the illegality of the calls of the security services to the citizens, Therefore, ICSPR demands the following:

1-      ICSPR gravely concerned that the Palestinian Preventive Security Service continues to practice the practice of summoning citizens, in contradiction to the requirements and pillars of the rule of law.

2-      ICSPR considers these summons to be a violation of the Press freedom. It is a process of spreading fear among Palestinian journalists and all citizens to  preventing them from expressing their opinions on a general issue that concerns the various segments of Palestinian society.

3-      ICSPR calls upon the Preventive Security Service to refrain from exercising political retaliation, and to abide by the national law that confers jurisdiction on arrest and detention and restricts freedom only to judicial officials
