ICSPR condemns the Israeli occupation forces evicting of five Palestinian families from their homes in Khirbet Hamsa – northern Jordan Valley- in the occupied Palestinian territories

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) has followed-up with deep concern and condemnation that for the third time since 24 April this year, the Israeli occupation forces have evicted five Palestinian families from their homes in the occupied Palestinian territories.

At 6:00 am on Saturday, May 8, 2018, the Civil Administration staff and an Israeli occupation military force consisting of two jeeps, arrived at Khirbat Hamsa and evicted five Palestinian families from their homes (from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm). It is the third eviction in two weeks, the Israeli excuse was (it is a necessary for military training). That forced the 29-memebr families (including 19 minors and a child with Down’s syndrome) to gather in an isolated neighborhood, waiting to be allowed to return to their homes.

It should be noted that at the beginning of this month, the Israeli Civil Administration has demolished six residential buildings in four communities in the Musafir Yatta area southern Hebron, according to a video published by “B’Tselem” on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018, At 7:30 am, two jeeps belonging to the Israeli Civil Administration, accompanied by dozens of soldiers and two bulldozers, arrived at four adjacent Palestinian communities located in Musafir Yatta, which are (Khirbet Tida, Khirbet al-Mukhtar, Khirbet al-Halawa and Khirbat al-Fakhit).

The International Commission to Support Palestinians’ Rights (ICSPR) considers such acts to be a continuation of the occupation adopted policy since 1948,  since the forcible displacement of Palestinians from their towns and villages, and affirms that these acts constitute a grave violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention provisions and amount to war crime and crimes against humanity under the Statute of the International Criminal Court. Accordingly, it:

  • Warns the occupation state against the continued policy of settlement and displacement of Palestinians from their lands. Thus, the demonstrators are sending a message says that the policy of displacement will not prevent the Palestinians from returning to their land.
  • Demand the United Nations to end of the occupation, implement Resolution 194,  condemn the displacement measures and the impose sanctions on the occupation state for not complying with United Nations resolutions, in particular the Security Council resolution 2234 of  December 23rd, 2016 on the illegality of the Israeli settlements.
  • Calls on the Palestinian leadership to end the security coordination and withdraw the recognition of the occupation state, as well as create a plan to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian communities and to refer the displacement and settlement crimes to the International Criminal Court under Article 14 of its Statute.
  • Urges the international community and the Arab and Islamic countries to take serious attitudes by pressing the occupation state to prevent the Israeli settlement policy and the displacement of the Palestinians, to enable them to return to their lands and fairly compensate them in accordance with UN Resolution 194.
