HASHTAG SAVE GAZA CALLS FOR

Hashtag Save Gaza  calls for ending  the disastrous situation of 2 million Palestinians in Gaza.

On Monday, the International Commission to Support Palestinian Right (ICSPR) launched a campaign across social networks on #SavedGaza, in order  to show the tragic and disastrous situation of  the citizen of the Gaza Strip and demand to lift the siege on the Strip.

The campaign highlights the situation in the Gaza Strip and its deterioration in all aspects of life, both economic, social and health as a result of power outages, closure of crossings, prevention of medical transfers abroad and water pollution.

The campaign also showed the unprecedented deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, as a response to the inhumane actions of Israel, through tightening the blockade on the Gaza Strip, and the continued of some illegal measures implemented by both the Palestinian government and presidency.

The campaign recorded a high unemployment rate of 46%, of whom 67% were university graduates, a quarter of a million were unemployed, and poverty rates exceeded 65%.

The campaign also showed shocking figures and statistics of the tragic reality in the Gaza Strip. About 4,600 families of the Gaza Strip are homeless, and 5000 families live in tents or plastic houses. The proportion of potable water is 50%, with daily power cut of 12 hours per day and health sector suffers shortages of medicines and medical consumables with a deficit of up to 30% per month.

The campaign noted that the bulk of the infrastructure was still stalled after three years of recent war on the strip as 50% of donor funds were directed to Gaza.

The campaign called upon the international community immediately intervene to end the suffocating blockade of the Gaza Strip imposed by the Israeli occupation for the eleventh consecutive year. ICSPR demanded to ensure freedom of travel and movement for the Palestinian people between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, to ensure the free movement of people and goods with Egypt, and to stop all the sanctions recently imposed on the Gaza Strip.
